26-06-2024 – CUPRA Born has won the Best Electric Car award at the Autocar Awards 2024.
CUPRA Born is the first 100% electric model from the challenger brand and the perfect match of performance, electrification, and technical excellence.
Announcing Born’s win at the prestigious award ceremony, Autocar praised CUPRA’s fully electric car for its driving and ownership appeal. Coupled with exhilarating performance and stimulating design, CUPRA Born has proven the perfect choice for the discerning EV customer.
Autocar said: “The CUPRA Born is such a good all-round package that really can do it all. It's a car you buy for the qualities of the car; the fact it's electric is almost secondary."
“So many electric cars today are simply tools that you buy for rational, more practical reasons, whereas the CUPRA Born is the best example yet of an electric car you buy for reasons that really tug on your heartstrings. It's a car you really want to own and drive.”
Marcus Gossen, Director of SEAT and CUPRA UK, said: “We’re delighted to see CUPRA Born win the Best Electric Car category at the Autocar Awards. It really vindicates the hard work, technical development, and creativity that has gone into making the Born what it is today. It couldn’t have arrived at a better time with the imminent arrival of the VZ model – the next step in the Born’s remarkable journey.”
CUPRA Born is available in the UK with two battery variants: 58kWh 230PS e-boost in V1, V2 and V3 trim levels, and the 77kWh 230PS e-boost variant available in the V3 trim.
The 58kWh 230PS e-Boost derivative is capable of a rapid 0-62mph time of 6.6 seconds thanks to a maximum 310Nm of instant torque, whilst the 77kWh 230PS e-boost is capable of up to an impressive 342 miles battery range.
Safety and technology is also paramount in the CUPRA Born, aided by features such as the 12-inch infotainment screen, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, and Traffic Sign Recognition. The Born also benefits from a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
CUPRA Born will soon embark on its next step, with the launch of the CUPRA Born VZ – short for Veloz (or ‘fast’ in English). The Born VZ is set to deliver 240kW of power with 545Nm of torque, which combined enables a 0-62mph time of 5.6 seconds, and a top speed of 124 mph.
