CUPRA XE teams up with Adrien Tambay for season finale
CUPRA brand ambassador and champion driver Adrien Tambay is joining the ABT CUPRA XE team for the final challenge of the year, the last double header race of the Extreme E season in Chile, which will take place on 2nd and 3rd of December.
Racing is in Adrien Tambay’s DNA. He has participated in competitions all over the globe behind the wheel of a wide variety of cars. Last year, during his first season with CUPRA, he became FIA ETCR champion.
For his first Extreme E double header in one of the driest regions of the world, Tambay will be driving the CUPRA Tavascan XE, partnering with the World RX rising star Klara Andersson. After claiming a double podium at the Island X Prix in Sardinia, ABT CUPRA XE aims to obtain positive results at the Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix.
“It is a great honour for me to drive for ABT CUPRA XE in Chile. This is going to be my first ever experience in off-road racing, so there will be a lot of things to learn. But I’ve always been keen to take on new challenges, so I’m really looking forward to it. I feel the trust from the ABT CUPRA XE family, so I will do my best to fulfil it.” stated Adrien Tambay.
“After achieving an excellent third place in the previous Copper X Prix in Chile, we’re looking forward to seeing what Adrien can do behind the wheel of the CUPRA Tavascan XE. His experience and energetic spirit will contribute a lot to helping us fight for the top positions”, said Xavi Serra, Head of CUPRA Racing.
The purpose of the Extreme E Championship is to raise awareness through radical off-road electric racing series in remote corners of the planet impacted by the climate crisis. Its aim to highlight global issues and how we can contribute to sustainability naturally aligns with CUPRA’s core values.
The season’s thrilling conclusion will take place in Antofagasta, Chile on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd of December. ABT CUPRA XE’s drivers are ready to show their talents on the stunning landscapes of the arid Atacama Desert to obtain positive results once again.
